… and he remained

Love looked at the time and laughed,
Because he knew he didn’t need to.
It pretended to die for a day,
and to bloom again in the evening,
with no laws to obey.
It fell asleep in a corner of its heart
for a time that did not exist.
He fled without leaving,
he returned without having left,
time died and he remained

– Luigi Pirandello
